The Do’s

Do learn before you risk

Understand what you’re trading and why. Knowledge is the cheapest risk management there is.

Do have a plan for every trade

Know your entry, your exit and your reason before you click, not after.

Do use a stop loss

Decide your risk before you enter, and let the stop enforce it.

Do size positions to your risk

Keep each trade small enough that one loss can’t hurt you badly.

Do practise on a demo

Build your process risk-free until it feels routine.

Do keep a journal

Review your own decisions, it’s how you actually improve.

The Don’ts

Don’t chase losses

Trying to win it back usually turns a small loss into a big one.

Don’t over-leverage

Leverage magnifies losses as much as gains, respect it.

Don’t trade on emotion or tips

Fear, greed and hot tips are not a strategy.

Don’t risk money you can’t afford to lose

Never rent, bills or borrowed money.

Don’t move your stop to avoid a loss

It destroys the very protection a stop provides.

Don’t expect to get rich quick

Consistency beats one big win, and beware guaranteed-profit claims.
